DUNREITH- Verna Moore Bills, 88, of Dunreith, Indiana, passed away peacefully and went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday evening June 1, 2021. The only child of the late Marcus and Helen (Floyd) Ramsey, Verna was born in Richmond, Indiana on July 17, 1932. She was a graduate of Richmond High School with the class of 1950. Verna has been an active member of the Lewisville Presbyterian Church since 1953. She served as Deacon, Elder, Sunday School Teacher, Treasurer, Y.P.G. Club member and Prayer Chain Leader. Her worn and taped up bible included her prayer list, underlined scripture and notes. She loved and found comfort in the Lord. Verna enjoyed music, singing, crocheting afghan blankets for gifts, working in her yard and planting flowers. She possessed a sweet nature and was a kind and passionate lady. Her family, especially the grandchildren, will miss Grandma’s famous chocolate chip cookies. Verna also worked outside the home as an Avon representative and in bookkeeping and customer service for Wayne County Farm Bureau Insurance and McGaw Paving in Richmond, Henry County Building and Loan, Mayhill Publications in Knightstown and retiring from Citizens State Bank in New Castle.
Survivors include 2 daughters, Diana (Tom) Gross of Spiceland and Sharon Wasson of Greenfield; 4 grandchildren, Steve (Amy) Carter of Knightstown, Ryan (Emily) Gross of Hagerstown, Kelly (Chris) Burkhardt of Chattanooga, TN and Kyle (Natalie) Gross of Dunreith; 5 great grandchildren.
Verna was preceded in death by her first husband, J. Thomas Moore on June 5, 1970; second husband, George Bills on Sept. 11, 2000; son, Steve Moore on April 15, 2017;
son- in-law, Jim Wasson II on August 5, 2010.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of funeral services at 1 p.m. on Saturday June 5, 2021 at Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home, Dublin. Keith W. Allhands will officiate Burial will follow at South Mound Cemetery in New Castle.
