Sondra Sue Brattain

NEW CASTLE-  Sondra Sue Brattain, 81, passed away Tuesday evening June 14, 2022 at Ascension St. Vincent, Anderson Regional Hospital, in Anderson, Indiana.  A daughter of the late John Carlton and Estella (VanTyle) Bell, Sondra was born in Dublin, Indiana on May 24, 1941.  She grew up in the Dublin community and graduated from Lincoln High School in Cambridge City with the class of 1959.  Sondra has made her home in New Castle since 1968 and was a member of the Dublin Friends Meeting, the Red Hat Society and Kappa Delta Phi Sorority.  Spending time with her family was very important to her and in her leisure, Sondra enjoyed traveling and shopping. She retired from DANA Corporation in 2002 where she had worked at the Hagerstown and New Castle factories.

          Survivors include her companion of 54 years, Roy A. Wooldridge; daughter, Julia Murphy of New Castle; 3 grandchildren, Matthew Murphy of Dublin, Nathan (Samantha) Murphy of Morehead, KY and Lindsey (Keith) Steppe of Salt Lick, KY; 1 great grandson, Ryan Murphy of New Castle.  Sondra was preceded in death by 2 siblings, Roberta Wickes and Thomas Monroe.

           Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of funeral services at 1 p.m. on Saturday June 18, 2022 at Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home, Dublin.  Annie Glen of the Dublin Friends Meeting will officiate.  Burial will follow at South Lawn Cemetery in Dublin.
