FALMOUTH- Shirley Jean Sheffler, 85, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday afternoon December 6, 2023. Shirley was born in Sullivan County, Indiana on June 14, 1938. Her mother, Ada Edith (Padgett) Ball, passed away during childbirth so Shirley was raised by her dad and stepmom Harrell and Lou Ball. She was a graduate of Oaktown High School. Shirley met the love of her life, Richard Lee Sheffler, and they were married in Oaktown on February 15, 1958. She looked forward to raising a family and was blessed with four children. She and Lee farmed in the Falmouth area and have made their home there for the past sixty years. In 1972 Shirley started an annual family vacation tradition at Dale Hollow Lake where the family enjoyed boating, water skiing, and swimming. Shirley enjoyed sewing clothing for her children and won several awards for her handiwork at the county fair.
Survivors include her husband of sixty-five years, Lee Sheffler; 4 children, Donald Sheffler, Susan Sheffler, Teresa (Greg) Holz and Angela (Sam) Wagoner; 5 grandchildren, Kaitlyn Holz, Sean Wagoner, Kristin Kellar, Andrew Wagoner and Emily Wagoner; 2 great grandchildren; Claire Kellar and Alexander Wagoner.
Visitation for Shirley will be from 10 a.m. until the time of funeral services at noon on Monday December 11th, 2023 at Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home, Dublin. Minister, Brandon Lavy will officiate. Burial will follow at the Lewisville Cemetery.
