Sandra Proffitt Obituary

DUBLIN- Sandra Sue “Sandy” Proffitt also known by many as “Sam”, 80, of Eaton, Ohio, passed away at Brickyard Healthcare-Golden Rule Care Center in Richmond, Indiana, on Saturday evening July 27th, 2024. Sam was born in New Castle, Indiana, on January 21st, 1944, to the late Raymond C. and Hazel Marie (Lee) Brown. She was raised in the Cambridge City community and graduated from Lincoln High School. Sam worked and retired as a casket finisher for Paul Casket Company.  She married the love of her life, Coleman Harrison Proffitt, in Jelico, Tennessee on August 3rd, 1974, while they sat on sacks of potatoes and onions. They made their home in Dublin for over forty years where they raised three beautiful daughters together. In Sam’s leisure, she enjoyed working in her garden and yard, going camping, and volunteering at the Golay Senior Center.

            Sam leaves behind those to cherish her memory; husband, Coleman Proffitt; three daughters, Necoleia (Brad) Friend, Tia (Mike) Bowling, and Colena (Eric) Frame; eleven grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

            The family would like to thank the staff at Brickyard Healthcare for the great care that Sam received while in their care.

 Memorial contributions can be made out to the Alzheimer’s Association- 50 E. 91st Street, Suite 100/ Indianapolis, IN 46209.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday August 8, 2024 at Brick Cemetery in Hagerstown. Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
