MILTON- Richard L. Pollitt Sr., 79, passed away Friday afternoon, April 14, 2023, at Reid Health in Richmond, Indiana. A son of the late Harold and Mary Katherine (Dye) Pollitt, Richard was born in Rushville, Indiana on May 4, 1943. Formerly of Connersville, Richard graduated from Fayette Central High School in 1962 where he played varsity basketball and baseball for the Chiefs. Richard married the former Constance Lee McQuinley on February 22, 1964, at the Christian Church in Orange. The young couple moved to Milton and have made it their home for the past 55 years. Richard was a member of the Milton Christian Church and the Milton Volunteer Fire Department. The fire department was his passion. He was a 54-year member of the Milton Department, where he also served as Fire Chief, and of the Indiana Volunteer Fireman’s Association. Outside of the fire department, Richard enjoyed watching sports and spending as much time as he could with his family and “Mom’s Dog” (his dog) Molly. Richard’s work history included Connersville Casket Co., Philco-Ford and D & M in Connersville and he retired from Lowe’s in Richmond.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Connie; 4 children, Cindy (Scott) ZeBelle, Amy (Rick) Pollitt, Jennifer Headlee and Richard (Jennifer) Pollitt Jr.; 8 grandchildren, Robert, Elizabeth, Dustin, Amber, Devin, Angel, Katie and Kari; 11 great grandchildren; 2 sisters; 5 brothers; several nieces and nephews. Richard was preceded in death by 1 sister and 1 brother.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. THURSDAY April 20th, 2023, at Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home, Dublin. Pastor Scott Moistner will officiate. Burial will follow at West Side Cemetery in Milton. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 3-7 p.m. WEDNESDAY April 19th, 2023.
