STRAUGHN- Norman Curtis Meade, 60, passed away Thursday evening, January 6, 2022 at AMG Hospital in Greenfield, Indiana from COVID related complications.  A son of the late Malcolm and Ann (Steiner) Meade, Norman was born in Dayton, Ohio on August 31, 1961.  He grew up in Trotwood, Ohio and graduated in 1980 from Montgomery County Joint Vocational School.  He worked as a machinist/toolmaker for several manufacturing companies which included Delco-Remy in Anderson and Metaldyne in New Castle.  Norman also enjoyed farming and took pride in working the land of his great grandparents on their homestead.  Norman was a “Jack of All Trades” and could build or fix anything.  He enjoyed participating in tractor pulls, especially antique and diesel farm stock competitions. He built several of his own tractors for pulling competitions.  He was a member of the National Antique Tractor Pullers Association (NATPA) and won several championships.  Norman also liked hot rod cars and remote-control racing.  In his leisure, Norman liked to relax on the water at Brookville Lake but especially his favorite place to be, Norris Lake, Tennessee.

Norman is survived by his daughter, Rebecca A. Vardaman; grandson, Braydon Bertrand; sister, Dianna Wilson; several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.  Norman was preceded in death by his faithful canine companion, Dino.
