Mercedes De Leon Mendoza

Cambridge City - Mercedes De Leon Mendoza, 106, passed away peacefully at her home Sunday evening, March 9th, 2025, surrounded by family. A daughter of the late Victor and Maria De Leon, she was born on May 18, 1918, in Victoria Province, Laguna, Philippines. At the age of sixteen, she met and married Jose Mendoza and together, they had 12 children. Mercedes enjoyed cooking, making clothes for her family, collecting and wearing jewelry and going to the casino. She had been a member of the Cambridge City community since 2020.

Survivors include 9 children, Jose (Nelia) Mendoza Jr, of London, England, Bernilda (Michael) Gregory, and Felicidad (William Thomas) Durbin, both of Cambridge City, Jose (Anabel) Mendoza, Marina Mendoza Sandoval, Lisa (Basilio) Francisco, Bella Calilung, Lisa Basilio, all of the Philippines, Adelaida Mendoza, of San Diego, Anna Merced Quin, of Bermuda, many grand, great grand and great-great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and three sons, Benvenido, Armando and Renato Mendoza.

After cremation, Mercedes will be taken home to the Philippines to reunite with her family there.
