Mary Lurleen Mercer

STRAUGHN- Mary Lurleen Mercer,87, passed away early Friday morning November 1, 2019 at Henry Community Health in New Castle, Indiana.  A daughter of the late Thomas E. and Lena M. (Rasner) Ziglar, Mary was born in Pulaski County, Kentucky on December 27, 1931.  Mary and her family moved to Indiana in 1939 and she has made her home in the Straughn community since 1956.  Mary was a homemaker. She enjoyed playing cards and was a member of the local Euchre Club.  In her leisure, Mary crocheted, did needle craft, enjoyed coloring and collecting dolls.

Survivors include 6 children, Larry Wayne Mercer of New Castle, Kelly Alan Mercer of Woodstock, GA, Brian Keith Mercer of Independence, KY, Connie Lynn Steele of Muncie, Lisa Gaye Mercer of Muncie and Cathy LeAnn Moore of Dawsonville, GA; 13 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; several great-great grandchildren; 1 brother, Eugene Ziglar of New Castle; several nieces and nephews.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Kenneth Earl Mercer on August 8, 1993; infant son, Tracy Mercer; sister, Kathleen Daniel.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday November 6, 2019 at Marshall & Erlewein Funeral home, Lewisville Chapel.  Burial will follow at Lewisville Cemetery.  Visitation will be at the Lewisville Chapel on Tuesday November 5th from 5-7 p.m..
