Mary Ruth (Moles) Close

GREENS FORK- Mary Ruth Close, 88, passed away early Tuesday morning April 30, 2024 at Reid Health in Richmond, Indiana. She was born on March 11, 1936 in Seminary, Kentucky to the late Paul F. and Laura Mertie (Stone) Moles.   Ruth graduated from Hagerstown High School with the class of 1954. A longtime Wayne County resident, Ruth made her home in Greens Fork for many years. Ruth was a homemaker and had worked at Richmond Sign System for eighteen years.  She was a member of the Apostolic Pentecostal Church in New Castle. She enjoyed going to church and helping friends and family any way she could. In her leisure, Ruth enjoyed watching television and I.U. basketball.

Ruth is survived by nieces, nephews and cousins, whom she loved very much; special friends, Matt and Brenda Weiss.

           Her husband Jim Close died in 1976. She was also preceded in death by  2 siblings, Frances “Jean” Moles, James E. “Jay” Moles; 3 uncles, Barney and Lee Moles and Earl Stone; 3 aunts, Eva Elmore, Zelma Polson and Flossie Purvis.

           Visitation will be from 12 noon until the time of funeral services at 1 p.m. on Monday May 6, 2024 at the Apostolic Pentecostal Church, 126 S. 26th Street / New Castle, IN 47362.  Rev. Don Silvers will officiate. Burial will follow at Willow Grove Cemetery in Fountain City.  Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
