Julia Ann Henderson, 60, of Cambridge City, Indiana went to be with her Lord and Savior on June 22, 2023.
Julia was born on August 6, 1962 in New Castle, IN to Carmody and Shelby (Keihn) Kegley. She was the eldest of two daughters.
A lifelong resident of Cambridge City, Julia was known and adored by all, as someone who truly loved and served her community from her heart. She was such a light in this world, always with a smile on her face.
Julia was a 1980 graduate of Lincoln High School, and attended Olivet Nazarene College and IU East before coming back home and beginning a family of her own. She held numerous jobs throughout the years, most of them involving sales and dealing with the public, which was something she enjoyed and was naturally gifted at. She retired from the United States Postal Service, having worked as a clerk and a carrier in Cambridge City, Richmond, Centerville, and New Castle. Most recently she was the coordinator of the Western Wayne Senior Center, one of the many ways she poured into her community she loved so much.
Julia was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, in Richmond. Her strong faith meant everything to her, and inspired many.
She belonged to Psi Iota Xi Sorority, Cambridge City Kiwanis, and Daughters of Isabella. She had such a heart for others, and was so giving of her time and gifts. In 2022, Julia received the "Small Town Big Heart" and "Citizen of the Year" awards.
Julia loved board games, puzzles, reading, and spending time with her family and friends. She was the very best Mamaw to her eight grandchildren- Isaac, Rowan, Garren, Shepherd, Sylvie, Kolbe, Eli, and Olive. She spent as much time spoiling and loving on them as she possibly could.
Survivors include her husband of 37 years, Jerry Henderson; children Arlen (Dana) Henderson of Connersville, and Sarah (Kyle) King of Centerville; mother, Shelby Kegley; sister, Brenda (Mark) Stewart; eight grandchildren; nieces and nephews; great-nieces-and-nephews; brothers-and-sisters-in-law; and cousins.
Julia is preceded in death by her father, Carmody (Carmon) Kegley, and many of her dear extended family members.
Family and friends may gather for visitation from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Monday, June 26th at Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home in Dublin.
A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, June 27th at 11:00 a.m. at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church, Cambridge City. Father Sengole Gnanaraj will officiate.
