John Robert Cain, 79, passed away Friday evening October 23, 2020, at Heritage House of Connersville with his sister, Sarah, by his side. John graduated from Connersville High School and received a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Purdue University. He began his teaching career at Centerville, Indiana. John then taught math at Connersville High School until his retirement. He was proud to be named an I Star teacher and for a time was a chess club sponsor. John loved history, did extensive genealogy research, was an early volunteer for the Whitewater Railroad, and a member of Kiwanis. He was married to his beloved wife and best friend, Candy, for 47 years before her death on April 15, 2020. John and Candy were always together and enjoyed the outdoors and nature, puzzles, mind games, hiking, RV and tent camping, and exploring the Smoky Mountains and the Rockies during school breaks.
