Joe Terhaar Jr. Obituary

     Joseph G. Terhaar Jr., 84, passed away Friday evening March 12, 2021 at the home of his son in Richmond, Indiana.  A son of the late, Joseph G. and Ruby (Weaver) Terhaar Sr., Joe was born in Fayette County, Indiana near Harrisburg on May 2, 1936.  He married the former Frances O. Lambert in Liberty on May 27, 1957.  They raised their five children northwest of Bentonville while Joe worked as a Dairy Herdsman on the dairy farm of Bob Bishop.  In 1980 he began working the dairy of Myron and Sara Jane Moyer near Hagerstown and retired after 20 years of service there.  Following his retirement, Joe worked several years for Orscheln Farm Store in Richmond.   Joe collected Farmall and Massey Ferguson tractors and was a member of the Wayne County Antique Tractor Club. He served on the Fayette County Fair Board in the early 1970’s.

            Survivors include 5 children, Rodger (Shirley) Terhaar of Richmond, Danny (Darlene Rose) Terhaar of Pershing, Darlene (Don Cook) Black of Centerville, Lisa (Tom) Pentecost of Greens Fork and Joey (Kimberly) Terhaar of Centerville; 20 grandchildren; 40 great grandchildren; 10 great-great grandchildren; 3 sisters, Anna (Larry) Tornes, Rose Staight and Elsie Terhaar; 4 sisters in-law, Jean and Ilene Terhaar, Mildred “Midge” Mattix and Bonnie Wessler; many nieces and nephews.

            Joe was preceded in death by his wife on May 12, 2010; daughter in-law, Helen (Huddleston) Terhaar; 2 grandsons, Jason Terhaar and Tommy Pentecost; 9 brothers which include 2 infants, Charles and Little Joseph, Lawrence, Richard “Toby”, Tom, George, John, Harry and Tony Terhaar.

             Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday March 16, 2021 at Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home, Dublin. Face masks and social distancing are required.  Gary Sellers will officiate private funeral services on Wednesday March 17th.  Burial will follow at Zion’s Lutheran Cemetery in Pershing.

            The Terhaar family would like to extend their gratitude to Reid Hospice and staff, especially to Hailey and Tonya for the great care given to their Dad.
