Jeannette Winchester

NEW CASTLE- Jeannette Winchester, 94, passed away at her home in New Castle, Indiana Thursday evening May 6, 2021.  A daughter of the late Clarence and Ethel Gertrude (Paul) Rummel, Jeannette was born in Wayne County, Indiana on the Rummel homestead North of Dublin on April 23, 1927.  She attended Lincoln High School in Cambridge City. Following her marriage to Jesse Edward Winchester Jr.  on September 14, 1946 in Lewisville, they lived in New Castle.  In 1963, following the birth of their third child, Jeannette and her husband built their home in Lewisville and lived there for many years.  A homemaker, devoted wife and mother, Jeannette had also worked outside the home at Nickerson Farms and Montgomery Ward.  She was a member of the Locust Grove Church of the Brethren and in her leisure enjoyed playing BINGO and crocheting.

            Survivors include 2 children, John (Debbie) Winchester of The Villages, Florida and Shari (Larry) Green of Lewisville; daughter in-law, Joyce Winchester; 6 grandchildren, Matthew (Jessica) Conner, Brandon Conner, Jeremy (Jessica) Winchester, Jennifer (Jason) McDonald, Bryce and Brittany Winchester; 5 great grandchildren; 2 siblings, Jean Cullison of Oregan and Herman Rummel of Hagerstown; several nieces and nephews.

             Jeannette was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse E. Winchester Jr. on August 8, 1995; son, Jesse “Eddie” Winchester III on September 27, 2005; great grandson, Aaron McDonald on February 22, 2017; 7 siblings, Wilma Query, Thelma Thornburg, Mabel Nelson, Helen Albertson-Tutterow, Ralph, Charles and Carl Rummel.

            Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. until the time of funeral services at 11 a.m. on Monday May 10, 2021 at Locust Grove Church of the Brethren- 9530 E. 400 S./ New Castle, IN 47362.  Pastor Tim Webb will officiate.  Burial will follow at Locust Grove Cemetery.
