James Gordon, 74, passed away at his home Sunday afternoon October 22, 2023. James was born to the late Horace and Catherine Lenore (Mosier) Bush Gordon on February 22, 1949, in New Castle, Indiana. He graduated from Rushville High School with the class of 1967. Jim earned bachelor’s degree in both social work and history from the University of West Florida, and a master’s degree in social work from Florida State University. Jim served eight years with the United States Air Force and served 2 tours in Thailand. He was responsible for loading aircraft with ordinance bound for Vietnam. Upon receiving an honorable discharge, he worked in instrument calibration at the Naval Air Station in Pensacola, Florida. More recently, he worked 10 years as a hospital patient advocate. In his spare time, Jim was a member of historical societies and enjoyed researching his family’s genealogy.
Jim is preceded in death by his parents and sister-in-law, Joyce Cromer Bush.
Jim is survived by his brother, David Bush of Pensacola, Florida; one niece, Tamara McLeod; and two great-nephews, both college students, Peyton and Tanner McLeod; cousins, Robert “Bob” Clark of Bedford, IN and Jane (Mrs. Donald) Clark of Lynchburg, TN.
Visitation for Jim will be held Thursday, November 2nd, 2023, from 11 a.m. until the time of service at 1:00 p.m. at the Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home, Dublin. Burial will follow at the Raleigh Zion Cemetery in Raleigh, Indiana.
