Hasseltine "Memaw" (Halcomb) Hendershot

CAMBRIDGE CITY- Hasseltine “Memaw” Hendershot, 96, passed away peacefully on Friday October 14th, 2022, at Rosebud Village in Richmond, Indiana. A daughter of the late William and Nancy (Hale) Halcomb, Hasseltine was born September 19th, 1926, in Owsley County, Kentucky. She grew up in Hamilton, Ohio, and has lived in the Western Wayne community since 1946. Hasseltine was a member of the former Cambridge City Church of The Nazarene and had worked at Foam Rubber Products in New Castle, Indiana. Known as “Memaw,” she loved children and babies, and all those that knew her loved her back. Hasseltine, was entrusted with the care of many children throughout the years, which she thoroughly enjoyed. She enjoyed cooking, baking, craftwork, and was always crocheting a blanket for someone.

          Hasseltine is survived by four children, Butch Hendershot, Judy Hamm, Rhonda (Tom) Ritter, and Lisa (Brad) Lewellen; twenty-one grandchildren; thirty-three great grandchildren; and ten great-great grandchildren; two siblings, John T. Halcomb and Stella Harmon; several cousins, nieces, nephews, and beloved friends.

          Hasseltine was preceded in death by her husband, Ferrel Hendershot Jr. on February 2nd, 2006. They were married in Connersville, Indiana on June 28th, 1946; one son, Doug Hendershot on June 21st, 2017; three grandsons; and four siblings, Edward, Dudley and Ray Bruce Halcomb, and Erma Sackenheim.

          Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of funeral services at 1 p.m. Tuesday, October 18th, 2022, at Marshall and Erlewein Funeral Home, Dublin. Rev. Steve Clark will officiate.
