CAMBRIDGE CITY- Franklin Delano Sherwood, 87, passed away at his home on the morning of Friday, August 11th, 2023. A son of the late Henry and Hazel Marie (McMichael) Sherwood, Frank was born on May 31st, 1936, in Fayette County, Indiana. He met the love of his love, Nancy Lou Ingalls and were married in Pershing on August 26th, 1955. He farmed for area farmers in several counties such as Union, Henry, Rush, and Wayne until 1968, when he began work at DANA Corporation. At that time, they made the Western Wayne community their home. Frank served his country in the Indiana National Guard for eight years, worked for DANA Corporation for twenty-two years and then retired from IMI after more than twenty years as a cement truck driver. He had been a member of the Dublin Volunteer Fire Department and enjoyed golfing at Winding Branch Golf Course. Frank loved to travel. He and Nancy visited 49 states, Mexico and Canada. Frank figured out a way to pay for his traveling by delivering automobiles for Nottingham Automotive across the country, which he thoroughly enjoyed.
Frank is survived by his wife of nearly 68 years, Nancy; children, Katrina Ann Sherwood-Pass, Norman Duane Sherwood; seven grandchildren, Jimmie Pass, Michael Paul Sherwood, Ryan Neil Pass, Dana Renee Pass-Matthews, Steven Wesley Sherwood, Shalea Brook Crouch, and Maci Ann Reed; twelve great-grandchildren, Kelsey, Taylor, Payton, Layne, Haydon, Tristin, Jason, Keirsten, Brexten, Addy Jo, Mason and Blakelyn: one great grandson, Colt: one great and two great-great grandchildren on the way; two extra grandchildren, Dana and Josh: three extra great- grandchildren, Emmy, Garren, and Eli; two brothers, Delbert and Pee Wee Sherwood.
Frank is preceded in death by one son, “Frankie” Paul Sherwood (June 13th, 2005); infant grandson, Kyle Duane Sherwood (June 13th, 1991); and nine siblings.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until the time of funeral services at 1 p.m. on Wednesday August 16, 2023 at Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home, Dublin. Pastor Scott Moistner will officiate. Burial will follow at Zion’s Lutheran Cemetery in Pershing.
