Eloise Erk Obituary

DUBLIN- Eloise Lois (Gethers) Erk, 91, passed away peacefully from her residence at the Springs of Richmond on Monday afternoon December 5, 2022. Eloise was born February 24, 1931 in Dublin, Indiana to the late Walter and Nettie Mae (Rummel) Gethers.  She graduated from Lincoln Hich School in Cambridge City in 1948 and married Clarence H. Erk in 1949.  After staying home to raise three of her four children, she went to work at Montgomery Wards and then Second National Bank until her retirement. Eloise went back to work later for the Wayne County Auditor’s Office while volunteering at her church and Circle U of Richmond.

          Survivors include her children, Beverly (Lynn) Wuertemberger, David (Trena) Erk and Julia (John) McCarty; 12 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren. Eloise was preceded in death by her husband; son, Stephen M. Erk; 1 great grandchild.

          The Erk family will hold a private viewing and funeral service on Thursday December 8, 2022 in the chapel at the Earlham Cemetery Mausoleum. Entombment will follow.

          In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society to help research breast, prostate and leukemia cancers or the Alzheimer’s Association.
