NEW CASTLE- Edith Pearl Peckinpaugh, 86, passed away Tuesday evening October 3, 2023, at her home in New Castle with loved ones at her side after a long, hard fought battle with cancer. A daughter of the late James A. and Fay M. (Usher) Dale, Edith was born in Connersville, Indiana on December 30, 1936. Edith graduated from Lincoln High School in Cambridge City with the class of 1955. She and her husband Carroll had lived in the Western Wayne community prior to moving to New Castle twenty years ago. A homemaker, Edith enjoyed baking and sharing her sweet treats with others, doing puzzles, cross stitch, doing family history, making photo albums, and watching her children and grandchildren’s activities. She was an active member of the New Castle Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
Survivors include her husband of 53 years, Carroll Lee Peckinpaugh. They were married in Cambridge City on July 23, 1970; 9 children, Jim (Susan) Peckinpaugh, Donna Stout, Mary (Mel) Campbell, Tom Peckinpaugh, Malinda (Tim) Anderson, Shelly (Scott) Brumfiel, Jennifer (Pat) Isom, Dale (Karen) Peckinpaugh and Crystal (Adam) Bradley; several grand, great and great-great grandchildren; other loving family members; 2 sisters, Betty (Gene) Craig and Doris (Wally) Patrick; nieces and nephews. Edith was preceded in death by 2 siblings, Mary Gray and Don Dale; son in-law, David M. Stout; grandson, David P. Stout; great granddaughter, Maleigha Jackson.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Monday October 9, 2023, at Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home, Dublin. President Gary Jefferson will officiate. Burial will follow at Mooreland Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 2-5 p.m. on Sunday October 8th.
