Donna Jean Powell

NEW CASTLE-  Donna Jean Powell, 92, passed away Monday March 1, 2021 at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana.  The daughter of the late Lowell and Ida (Tague) Davison, Donna was born in Franklin County, Indiana on May 16, 1928.  Donna moved to the Bentonville area her senior year of high school and graduated from there.  She and her husband, Gene Powell have made their home in Henry County since 1963.  Donna was a homemaker and worked on the farm raising her children and taking care of her family.  She enjoyed playing the piano, knitting, craft work, putting together puzzles, playing cards and dice.  She was a member of the New Lisbon Christian Church and active in their former Women’s Fellowship Group.

            Survivors include her husband of 72 years, Arthur Eugene Powell, whom she married on February 20, 1949 at the Cambridge City Christian Church. 5 children, Jo Ann Wells, Jay Lee (Memory) Powell, Jane Ellen (Mike) Taylor, Joyce Elaine (Richard) Chew and James Edward “Bubba” (Kathy) Powell; 14 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; sister in-law, Ramona Davison.

             Donna was preceded in death by her brother, John Davison; son in-law, Randy Wells and a grandson, Paul E. Wells.

            Private Funeral services conducted by Pastor Mark Lomison will be held at the convenience of the family.
