Dick Hetisimer Obituary

RICHMOND-  Richard Allen “Dick” Hetisimer, 63, passed away Friday morning August 27, 2021 at Reid Health in Richmond, Indiana.  Dick was born at Fort Meade, Maryland on March 29, 1958.  He and his parents moved to the Cambridge City/Pershing communities when he was a young boy and he graduated from Lincoln High School with the class of 1976.  Dick spent most of his life working in manufacturing and was employed by Thoroseal in Centerville, Dayton Superior and retired in October of 2020, do to health reasons, from Holland Colours in Richmond where he was a plant manager.  He traveled extensively all over the world with these companies and some of his favorite places were Holland, Turkey and China, which included the chance of a lifetime, to walk on the Great Wall of China,  Amsterdam being his most favorite place.  For several years Dick enjoyed his time as owner/operator of Doc Handy’s Social Club in Richmond.   In his leisure, Dick liked to hunt, fish and ride his motorcycle.  Time spent with Dick was never dull, good or bad. He loved life and looked forward to spending time with his kids, grandkids and on Facebook sharing famous stories of his “Big Adventures”.  His most enjoyment and pride came from his children and grandchildren, he loved his family dearly.

             Survivors include his mother, Marjorie (Handy) Hetisimer of Richmond; his wife of 44 years, the former Kristy McCullum.  They were married in Pershing on July 30, 1977; 2 children, Josh (Amanda) Hetisimer of Centerville and Hollie (Nate) Kinder of Elizabeth; 5 grandchildren, Sidney (Skyler) Ashcraft, Peyton DeLucio, Braxton, Asher and Aislynn Hetisimer; 1 great grandson, Waylon Ashcraft; 4 siblings, Billy Hetisimer, Mary Ann Payne, Terri Duffin and Amy Belt.

             Dick was preceded in death by his father, William Hetisimer and an infant brother, Gregory Hetisimer.

 Following cremation at Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home, a Celebration of Dick’s Life will be held at a future date.
