Dana Floyd Overbay, 60, passed away Sunday evening, October 29, 2023 at Reid Health in Richmond, Indiana. A son of the late, Floyd “Bud” and Virginia (Bolinger) Overbay, Dana was born in New Castle, Indiana on February 5, 1963. Dana grew up in Straughn, Indiana and attended Tri High School. He proudly served his country in the United States Army and was honorably discharged in 1986. Formerly of Centerville, Dana has made his home in Dublin since 2000. Working as a cross country truck driver for ten years, Dana was able to see many sights across the nation. He retired due to health reasons from the Indiana Department of Transportation- Highway Maintenance. Dana loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He enjoyed listening to music, playing guitar, historical memorabilia, fishing and telling stories. He was a member of the Dublin Gospel Mission Church. In appreciation, a “THANK YOU” is extended to the doctors, nurses, and staff at Reid Health for the care given to Dana during his illness.
Survivors include his wife of 23 years, the former Pamela Jo King. They were married at the Dublin Gospel Mission Church on June 10, 2000. Two daughters, Laura (Ryan) Keller and Jessica Foreman; six stepchildren, Emily (Ben Kreider) Shepherd, Jessica Scott, Cassandra Shepherd, Andrew (Sarah MacDonald) Shepherd, Abigail Lenfert and Aaron Shepherd; fifteen grandchildren, Lacey Williams, Hannah Kreider, Simon Scott, Ivy Clarkson, Oscar Kreider, Phoebe Scott, Annabelle Clarkson, Alexander Hobbs, Orion McCorkhill, Austin Sieber, Isaac McCorkhill, Walter Hobbs, Daniel Lenfert, Caroline Lenfert and Colten Barnes; three great grandchildren, Jake Lichtenberger and twins, Gabriel and Addison Barber; one great grandchild on the way in January; five siblings, Teresa French, Rebecca Standridge, Dallas Gentry, Dean Overbay and Connie Stevens; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Dana was preceded in death by his father on January 15, 1997, and his mother on April 17, 2019; 2 brother in-laws, Carl French and Rick Atkinson; 1 sister in-law, Fran Gentry.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday November 4, 2023, at the Dublin Gospel Mission Church in Dublin. Rev. Steve Cox will officiate. Burial will follow at the South Lawn Cemetery in Dublin. Visitation will be at the Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home, Dublin, from 4-7 p.m. on Friday November 3rd.
