Butch Vance Obituary

Wayne Allen “Butch” Vance, 73, changed his residence on April 8, 2021.  He has now moved into heaven to be with his Lord and Savior and the family and friends who have gone on before him. He was born in Chicago, Illinois on April 7, 1948.  Soon after, he moved to Dublin, Indiana with his parents, Dale M. and Virginia (Nagle) Vance, where he grew up.  He attended Lincoln High School in Cambridge City and upon graduation he enlisted in the US Army.  Wayne was a Thailand veteran of the Vietnam War, rising to the rank of sergeant.  On discharge he moved to Arizona where he spent the next 40 years.  He later retired to East Tennessee where he enjoyed everything about it. Wayne loved hanging out with his veteran friends who all shared a special common bond.  Lifelong interests that he enjoyed included roller skating, cars, fishing, photography, country music, country dancing, hiking, traveling, animals, very hot spicy food, bacon, and spending time with family and friends.  Most of his working life was spent at General Motors dealerships in the Parts department.  He firmly believed that Chevrolet was the best way to go.  He did a short stint as a long-haul truck driver with his former wife Robin Shepard Edwards.  He later worked for La Mesa RV where he made many friends as well.  Wayne was kind, loving and supportive in every way, especially to anyone who needed a hand.  He enjoyed injecting his special brand of humor into nearly all situations.

He is survived by his loving wife, Lorraine Antonioli Vance, married nearly 20 years.  Other survivors include his son, Dale E. Vance; stepdaughter, Marguerite Larsen (Brad); granddaughter, Kayla Vance; grandson, Dylan Vance; step grandson, James Larsen; siblings, Roger Thomas (Trinda), Dalea Waters, Debra Ervin, Marvin Vance (Linda), Robin Weilenman, Kimberly Vance-Lawrence; numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

He is pre-deceased by his parents, stepmother, Leola B. (Goble) Vance; brother, Gerald Thomas (Kathy); sisters, Becky Watson, and Donna Shafer.
