Buddy Hicks Obituary

Mt. Auburn-  Leland Jerry “Buddy” Hicks, 85,  passed away Thursday evening August 29, 2024 at his home in Mt. Auburn with his loved ones at his side.  A son of the late Leland and Selma (Malone) Hicks, Leland J. Hicks was born in Greeneville, Tennessee on August 7, 1939.  Buddy moved with his family to the Cambridge City area when he was two years old.  He was drafted by the United States Army and honorably served his country from March 12, 1963 until March 11, 1965.  Buddy enjoyed fabricating and welding. He was a Journeyman Millwright and worked in machine repair for twenty-three years at Lee Cylinder in Cambridge City and retired from Ford-Visteon in Connersville after twenty-three years of service.  In his leisure, Buddy enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson, taking trips across the country with his wife Sharon and shooting his firearms.  He was a member of ABATE of Indiana and the Whitewater Valley Motorcycle Club.

             Buddy is survived by his wife of 63 years, the former Sharon Kay Lundy.  They were married at the Cambridge City Baptist Church on June 30, 1961. His boy, Josh Rinehart; 3 siblings, Johnny (Joan) Hicks, Mary (Paul) Miller and Mike (Sandy) Hicks; sister inlaw, Glenda Hicks; nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Pete Hicks.

            Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Tuesday September 3, 2024 at Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home, Dublin.  Burial with Military Funeral Rites provided by contingents of the United States Army Honor Guard and Lawrence H. Bertsch American Legion Post 169 will follow at Zion’s Lutheran Cemetery in Pershing.
