Billy Ervin Jr. Obituary

CAMBRIDGE CITY- On Sunday, August 21, 2022, Billy Ray Ervin Jr. passed away unexpectedly. Bill was born in New Castle, Indiana to Billy Ray and Gladys (Cox) Ervin. He was a 1970 graduate of Lincoln High School, attended the 72nd session of the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy, and was a member of the Cambridge City Masonic Lodge No.5, F.&A.M.  In addition, he was a proud lifelong resident of the Cambridge City community.

Bill was a devoted husband, father, brother, grandfather, and great-grandfather. His greatest source of pride and happiness were his family and friends, and he took great joy in their accomplishments. He loved NASCAR and he used to root solely for Jeff Gordon. Bill was one of the nicest, kindest people to grace our community. He never had a bad thing to say about anyone and greeted people with a handshake, or a hug, and always a warm smile. He had the uncanny ability to recognize a person in need, and the selflessness to do what he could to help. Over the past thirty years, Bill drove a semi-truck professionally for Primex Plastics, but his first career was in law enforcement. He served his community as a Sergeant on the Cambridge City Police Department and volunteered as a firefighter for the Cambridge City Fire Department.

Bill is survived by his wife of 33 years Sherry; sons, Bryan (Melissa) Ervin, Joshua Hickman, Brett (Kayla) Hickman, Bryan (Rene) Hickman; daughter, Nicole (Todd) Patterson; brothers, Bruce (Shelly), Robin, and Jason (Charlene) Ervin; grandchildren, Joseph (Miranda) Lookabaugh, Jacob Ervin, Jarrin Ervin, Bear Ervin, Wyatt Patterson, Noah Patterson, Isaiah Patterson, Lukas Hickman, Sydney Hickman, Cooper Hickman, Madeleine Hickman, and Jett Hickman; great-grandchildren, Carson, Casey, and Caeden Lookabaugh; Bill also leaves behind beloved nieces, nephews, and friends. Bill was preceded in death by his parents and his little sister Penny.

Friends may call from 2 p.m. until the time of funeral services at 6 p.m. on Saturday, August 27th, 2022, at Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home, Dublin. Rev. Danny Berry will officiate.
