NEW CASTLE- William “Bill” Emeral Worthington, 90, passed away Monday June 17, 2024 at Stonebrooke Rehabilitation Center in New Castle, Indiana. A son of the late Raymond Oakley and Kathleen (Nichols) Worthington, Bill was born in New Castle, Indiana on May 8, 1934. He was a graduate of New Castle High School and an Air Force veteran of the Korean War. Bill had lived in Texas and Virginia prior to moving back to Henry County in New Lisbon then New Castle. He worked as a firefighter and at Modernfold in New Castle and in furniture manufacturing in Virginia. Bill enjoyed fishing and camping and tinkering. He could fix anything.
Survivors include 3 children, Debbie Melton, Tammy Dye and Billy Worthington; step daughter, Kennette Smith; 4 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; sister, Carolyn Sue Worthington Riall; nieces and nephews. Bill was preceded in death by a son, David Ray Worthington on December 22, 2021; 2 brothers, Ralph Eugene and James “Jim” Martin Worthington.
A private family visitation will be held prior to cremation. Burial will be at a future date on Veteran’s Hill in South Mound Cemetery in New Castle.
