Athena Neal Obituary

LEWISVILLE- A precious angel, Athena Avalynn Lucille Neal (seven months), went back home to be with the Lord on January 28th, 2023, after a long hard fight in the hospital. Athena was born in Indianapolis on June 16th, 2022, at Riley Hospital for Children to parents, Gary W. Neal and Katherine Joanne Pence. Athena’s seven months of life were spent at Riley Hospital, her parents gave her a loving life the best way possible, always by her side. When Athena was born, she entered the world with a head full of beautiful, curly dark hair, chunky cheeks, and long eyelashes. Those times that Athena were able to be held by her parents, she looked like sleeping beauty, all content in her parent’s arms. Her name comes from Greek Mythology, Goddess Athena, who was the goddess of war and wisdom. Even though Athena didn’t live on this Earth for very long, she definitely lived up to her name, fighting until the end.

Athena is survived by her parents; two brothers, Tyler Neal and Alexander Vigil; maternal grandmother, Altie (David) Thurston; one uncle; two aunts; and many cousins and other family members.

Athena is preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Laura and Edward “Eddie” Neal; and maternal grandfather, Kenneth Pence I.

Private funeral arrangements have been made by the family. Memorial contributions or cards of condolence for baby Athena can be made to her parents at, P.O. Box 267 Lewisville, IN 47352. Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home has been entrusted with Athena’s arrangements where online condolences can be made anytime at www.marshallanderleweinfuneralhome.com.
