Obituary

Curtis Windle "Red" Poore, 79, of New Lisbon, Indiana passed away Wednesday morning December 11, 2013 in his home surrounded by his family. Windle was born October 26, 1934 in Forbus, Tennessee a son of Wilburn and Emogene Poore. He battled and overcome cancer numerous times in his life since the age of 17. He attended school at Sulphur Springs Elementary and High School until 1951 when they moved to New Lisbon. He is a 1953 graduate of New Lisbon High School. On September 12, 1957 he married the former Caralou House. He was a member of the New Lisbon Christian Church and served over fifty years as a member of the Fraternal Order of Knights of Pythias. Windle farmed all of his life and also worked at the New Lisbon Farm Service until 1978, when he retired to farm full time until the day of his passing. He enjoyed spending time working on and with his John Deere tractors, as well as playing euchre. He also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great- grandchildren. Survivors include his wife Caralou (House) Poore; two sons, Curtis Poore (Maurisa Sharp) of New Lisbon, Clyde Wilburn "Butch" Poore of New Lisbon; two daughters, Denise Poore Durant (Patrick Harris) of Knightstown, and Carrie Beth Poore (Dwarka Baron) of Vail, Arizona; seven grandchildren, Curtis "Rusty" Poore, Debbie Davis, Lori Ann Newhouse (fiancé Jared Hoots), Darrin Poore, Cory Brown (wife Hilary), Gabriel Poore (fiancé Nikki York), and Whitnie White; five great-grandchildren, Carlie Ann Newhouse, Tenley Kay Davis, Asher Dale Hoots, Bentlee Windle Hoots, and Elyse Cara Brown; one brother Shirley Poore (wife Marjorie) of New Lisbon; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Windle was preceded in death by his parents Wilburn and Emogene Poore; and a brother, Porter M. Poore. Visitation will be from 3:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Friday, December 13, 2013 at Marshall and Erlewein Funeral Home, Dublin. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 14, 2013 at the funeral home. Pastor Roby Wood will officiate. Burial will follow at the New Lisbon Cemetery.
