Obituary

Cambridge City: William Herbert "Herbie" Johnson Jr. 60, of Cambridge City, passed away Monday July 6, 2009 at Reid Hospital and Health Care in Richmond. He was born on May 22, 1949 in Richmond Indiana. Herbie attended Lincoln High School and graduated from Bible Seminary School. While living inCorpus Christi, Texas he was Youth Pastor at his church and worked for Texas Intercontinental Weapons Company. Herbie and his wife Kathy returned to the Cambridge City/ Western Wayne community in September of 1991. He worked as a machinist at Visteon in Connersville and retired from there for health reasons. He was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Connersville and Emanuel Baptist Church in New Castle, he was president of the Double Deuce Car Club who raise money for many charities. Survivors include his wife of 33 years, the former Kathy M. Ingalls. They were married in Jacksboro, Tennessee on January 8, 1966; mother- Mary Aleen Marcum Johnson of Cambridge City; very special grandson- Nathan (Jerica) Wright of Centerville; daughter- Suzette McDaniels of Dayton, TN; grandson- Terry Lee Wright Jr. of Milton; 4 great grandchildren- Kenzie, Carter, Emma and Gavin Wright; 3 sisters- Shirley Caudill and Diana Vickers of Cambridge City and Debbie (Glen) Cunningham of Indianapolis ; 3 brothers- Darrell Gene Johnson of Bakersfield, CA, Stanley (Melanie) Johnson of Batesville, Jay Chaney of Indianapolis; sister inlaw- Debbie Johnson of Albuquerque, NM; special friend and brother - Jerome Gray; and many very special loving brother and sister inlaws, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father- William Herbert Johnson Sr.; infant son- William Herbert Johnson III; brother- DeWayne Johnson Visitation will be from 11 a.m. till the time of services at 1 p.m. on Friday July 10, 2009 at the Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home, Dublin. Pastor Herman Chaney will officiate. Burial will follow next to his son at the Maple Grove Cemetery in Brookville. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions can be made in memory of Herbie Johnson at P.O. Box 214 / Dublin, IN 47335 or with envelopes at the funeral home.
