DUBLIN- Wayne Gary Friend, 59, passed away at his home in Dublin, Indiana on Sunday morning December 2, 2012. Wayne was born in Connersville, Indiana on August 13, 1953 and graduated from the Connersville Senior High School with the class of 1973. Wayne retired from Visteon after 31 years of service where he worked as a Hi-Lo Operator. Wayne was a loving and devoted family man who loved to "tinker"in his garage, go to flea markets and help operate the "Old Trunk" antique and craft shop in Dublin. Survivors include his father, Henry P. Friend of Connersville; Wayne's companion of 14 years, Connie (Lainhart) Pendleton of Dublin; 2 daughters, Amie (Mark) Beatty of Kokomo, Heather (Leonard) Westerfield of Connersville; 7 grandchildren, Cody, Tyler, Harley, Karleigh, Chris, Mercedes and Trent; stepson, Troy (Heather) Green of Connersville; 5 sisters, Ann (Toby) Short of Laurel, Patty (Eddie) Gerrian of Connerswville, Sara (Joe) Menedoht of Connersville, Joyce (Jeff) Davis of Blooming Grove and Barb (Charles) Throop of Connersville; 5 brothers, Ralph (Cindy) Friend of Erie, PA, John (Debbie) Friend, David (Dixie) Friend, Charlie Friend and Steven (Tammy) Friend all of Connersville; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Wayne was preceded in death by his mother, Bertha (Allen) Friend in 2001 and a brother, Sonny Friend in 2010 Following cremation, public graveside services and interment will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday December 6, 2012 at the Village Creek Cemetery in Connersville. The Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home, Dublin has been entrusted with the arrangements.
