Obituary

Thomas David Weber went home to be with the Lord on June 22, 2026.

He was born on June 3, 1932 in a rural farmhouse outside of Economy, Indiana. He began school in Shirley, Indiana, and later attended several Henry County schools as he lived in many Henry County towns as a youth. He graduated in 1950 as a proud Spiceland Stinger. He was in several bands throughout Jr. and Sr. High School, and played trombone in many community bands throughout the rest of his life. After high school, he proudly worked for the FBI in Washington, DC for 1 year. Following that, he attended and graduated from Indiana University School of Business in 1955, where he was in the Air Force ROTC program for three years.

He married Peggy “Joyce” Finchum in 1953, who preceded him in death. After college, he joined the Army and was stationed in Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Nuremberg, Germany in a Combat Engineer Battalion.

His walk with God was always a centerpoint of his life. He started as a youth leader at West Richmond Friends, and held a variety of offices in the churches in the communities where he lived. He also taught Sunday School. As an adult he lived in New Castle, Indiana, Washington, DC, Richmond, Indiana, Pleasant Hill, Ohio, Batesville, Indiana, Columbus, Indiana, Indianapolis, Indiana, and retired to Lewisville, Indiana, where he was a member of the Spiceland Friends Church, the Church of his youth.

He is preceded in death by two infants and his wife of 62 years, as well as a step-brother Andy Stonehouse of Canada. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 7 years, Shirley Miller Weber; step-brothers, Wayne (& Linda) Boyd and Rick (& Lin) Stonehouse; daughter Joanne (& Steve) Anderson of Fort Wayne, Indiana, son Paul (& Debra) Weber of Lewisville, Indiana; grandchildren Kevin (& Josie) Weber, Ian (& James) Ray, Colin (& Ashley) Ray, Nathan (& Caitlin) Weber, Monica (& Dylan) Altman, Cody (& Whitney) Anderson, Tyler Anderson; 12 great-grandchildren, as well as several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

During his lifetime, he enjoyed many hobbies, including birdwatching, hiking, bicycling, sailing, photography, music, archery, camping, and canoeing. Most of all, he adored his family. He loved spending time with all of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren while supporting them in their various interests.

Tom will be remembered most for his unwavering faith, his dry wit, his bright smile, his inquiring mind, and his love for his family.

Tom's life will be celebrated on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, at Spiceland Friends Church in Spiceland, Indiana. Visitation will be from 11 am - 1 pm. Services will start at 1 pm. Immediately following funeral services a graveside service will take place with contingents of the United States Army Honor Guard at Circle Grove Cemetery.
