NEW LISBON- Thelma Ellen Chew, 87, passed away on Sunday morning November 11, 2012 at her home in rural New Lisbon, Indiana. A lifelong area resident and daughter of the late Clessie and Edna (Stohler) Miller. Thelma was born northeast of New Lisbon on February 25, 1925. She graduated from New Lisbon High School with the class of 1943. A homemaker, loving mother and grandmother, Thelma's entire life was devoted to her family. She enjoyed cooking, gardening being outdoors and helping her husband Raymond on the family farm. She was a member of the New Heights Christian Church of Connersville. Survivors include her husband Raymond H. Chew whom she married in New Castle on June 23, 1945; a son, Ron (Linda) Chew of Straughn, Indiana; 2 daughters, Shirley (John) Fliehler of Iowa City, Iowa, Donna (Bobby) Borror of New Castle, Indiana; 7 grandchildren, Brian (Kim) Chew, Angela (Chuck) Ventresco, Brittany Chew, Kelley Fliehler, Jarrod (Genna) Borror, Lindsey (Shannon) Poindexter, Abby (Matt) Singleton; 8 great-grandchildren, Chloe, Ella and Jackson Chew, Jordan and C.J. Ventresco, Quinn Borror, Cash and Emmaline Poindexter; 1 brother, James (Lola) Miller of Albany; several nieces and nephews. Thelma was preceded in death by 7 siblings, Wilbur and Harold Manifold, Carrol, Chester and Wilma Miller, Ruth (Miller) White and Ramona (Miller) McAllister. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday November 14, 2012 at the Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home, Lewisville. Burial will follow at the New Lisbon Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. on Tuesday November 13 at the funeral home.
