CAMBRIDGE CITY - Terry McCarty, 62, passed away at his home in Cambridge City on Sunday June 4, 2017. A son of the late Tom Sr. and Joan (Moistner) McCarty, Terry was born in New Castle, Indiana on October 24, 1954. He was raised in the Dublin community and graduated from Lincoln High School with the class of 1973. Terry was a lifelong sports fan and played varsity basketball, baseball and cross country while in high school. He attended I.U. East and also played on its basketball team. As an adult, Terry stayed active by participating in community sports leagues in Indiana and Ohio. He played in the Connersville Softball League and coached elementary school basketball. He had been a member of the Connersville Elks Club. Terry was a Journeyman-Machinist and had been employed at Dresser-Roots Blower in Connersville for over 20 years and also worked as Fayette County Housing Inspector for 9 years. He had also been employed by Amedco in Richmond and Metaldyne in New Castle.

Survivors include 1 daughter, Tara ( Jon Cloyd) McCarty of Connersville, her mother, Brenda (Pruet) Kunkel of Connersville, 1 grandson, Evan McCarty; 2 stepsons, Chad Lephew of Cincinnati, OH and Breck Wilhite of Nashville, TN; 5 siblings, Tom McCarty Jr. of Dublin, Greg (Joyce) McCarty and Mark (Joyce) McCarty both of Cambridge City, John (Juli) of Dublin and Ann (Tim) Webb of New Castle; 1 uncle, Kenny McCarty; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Terry was preceded in death by 1 brother, Rick McCarty; 2 stillborn sisters, Debra and Kandace.

Visitation will be from 1-3 p.m. on Thursday June 8, 2017 at the Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home, Dublin. A graveside service will follow at 3:30 p.m. at the South Lawn Cemetery in Dublin.
