Obituary

CAMBRIDGE CITY- Ted D. Roberson, 71, passed away Tuesday evening June 14, 2016 at Heritage House in Richmond, Indiana. Ted was born in Vincennes, Indiana on October 9, 1944. He attended Straughn School and has made his home in Cambridge City for over sixty years. Ted was a very helpful member of the Cambridge City community. He could be spotted riding his bicycle with an orange safety flag around town as he tended to his responsibilities. He loved to fly the American flag and made sure the town's flags were proudly flying and replaced when needed. It was fitting that he passed on Flag Day. Ted maintained the cities recycling bins and the paper trailer for the Cambridge City Fire Department. He also plowed the merchant's store front sidewalks of snow (unless you made him mad) with his John Deere tractor. When Ted was a young boy he stocked the bottom shelves at Reynold's Grocery in Straughn. He continued that work at Rihm's Food Ranch, Cutshaw's Market and Dollar General on stock day. As a final act of respect and kindness Ted would often assist the employee's of Wimmer Vault Company with the set up of equipment and interment of members of our community at our local cemeteries. He was a member and dispatcher of the Cambridge City Volunteer Fire Department and a honorary member of Lawrence H. Bertsch American Legion Post 169. Ted was recognized for his dedication to our community by being selected as the Whitewater Canal Days Grand Marshall of 1990. Survivors include 3 brothers, Steve Roberson of Dublin, Tom Roberson of Straughn and Tony Roberson of Cambridge City; brother in-law, John Blair of Tucson, Arizona; aunt, Louise Catt of Indianapolis; several nieces and nephews. Ted was preceded in death by his mother, Margaret D. (Theriac) Roberson on December 25, 2004; father, John "Dode" Roberson on July 13, 2008; sister, Robin Ann Blair on November 3, 2011. Visitation will be from 3 p.m. until the time of services at 7 p.m. on Monday June 20, 2016 at Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home, Dublin. Burial will be at the convenience of the family next to his mother at Riverside Cemetery in Cambridge City.
