New Castle – Roy Brandenburg Jr., 81, passed away Sunday afternoon, November 10th, 2024, at The Waters in New Castle, Indiana.  He has been a resident there since 2016. Roy was born February 11, 1943, to Roy Brandenburg and Lillie (Gibson) Brandenburg in Lee County, Kentucky. Roy graduated from Lee County High School in Beattyville in 1961. He was drafted into the United States Army during the Vietnam Era and served most of his time in Germany as a communications officer. Roy worked at many different jobs throughout his life and at the time of his retirement he had been an over the road truck driver for many years. He loved to fish, and through the years found joy in caring for horses and mules. Roy was a member of the Cambridge City Church of Christ.

Roy is survived by his 2 sons, Roy Edward of Washington State and Tony Lee of New Castle; 3 sisters, Joyce Manning of Louisville, Kentucky, Kathleen Brandenburg of Beattyville, Kentucky and Jo Ann Farmer of Pershing; 4 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild who he had not yet met; many nieces and nephews. Roy enjoyed spending time with his favorite nephew, Larry Steele, of Cambridge City.

Roy was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Ramona Brandenburg; 2 sisters, Helen Steele and Audrey Hunter; brothers in-law, Estill Steele and Lee Hunter.

Roy's Family would like to thank the staff and nurses of The Waters for taking such good care him.

Visitation for Roy will be Friday, November 15, 2024, from 11 a.m. until the time of service at 1 p.m. at the Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home, Dublin. Burial with military honors will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Cambridge City.
