Obituary

LEWISVILLE- Roosevelt "Rosie" Nicholas, 76, passed away on Monday morning July 15, 2013 in the emergency room at the Henry County Memorial Hospital in New Castle, Indiana. A son of the late Joe and Leona (Poore) Nicholas, Rosie was born in Byrdstown, Tennessee on April 21, 1937. He graduated from Raliegh High School with the class of 1955 and attended Earlham College. Rosie has lived most of his life in the rural Lewisville community. He had worked for Chrysler Corporation for 10 years and several years as a counterman for G. W. Pierce Auto Parts. In his retirement, he sold candles at Dutch Country Flea Market in Greens Fork. Rosie loved spending time with his children and grandchildren and was a member of the Church of Christ in New Castle, Lewisville Masonic Lodge #72 F & AM and the Lewisville Eastern Star #463. In his leisure, Rosie enjoyed visiting with friends, playing cards, fishing and NASCAR races. Survivors include his wife of 41 years, the former Brenda Fairchild. They were married in Byrdstown, Tennessee on February 5, 1972; 3 chidlren, Kent Nicholas of Nashville, TN, Kelly (Dawn) Nicholas of Indianapolis and Amelia (Markus) Baker of Spiceland; 6 grandchildren, Baylor, Braden, Brynn and Becker Nicholas, Trinity and Tristin Baker; 2 siblings, Bettie (Russell) Dobbs of Kokomo and Donald Nicholas of Cadiz. Rosie was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Jackie, David and Cecil. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday July 18, 2013 at the Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home, Lewisville Chapel. Burial will follow at the Lewisville Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 - 8 p.m. on Wednesday July 17 at the funeral home where masonic and eastern star services will be held at 8 p.m.
