Lynn - Roscoe "Herb" Turner, 85, passed away peacefully on Tuesday Sept 17, 2024, surrounded by loved ones. He was born at home to Robert and Virginia (Harvey) Turner on July 23, 1939. He attended Bentonville school and then graduated from Straughn in 1957. After graduation he proudly served his country by enlisting in the Army during the Vietnam War. He was an electrician at New Castle Chrysler and retired after 32 years. He was a 59-year member of Cambridge City American Legion Post 169. One of his biggest joys was the annual Turner Family reunion that he started hosting in 1977.
He is survived by a special friend Kathie Stevens of Richmond; brother, Robert Turner of New Paris; brother in-law, Bill Rosemeyer of Brownsburg; children, Scott (Chrissy) Newhouse of Georgetown, KY, Beth Ann (Kevin) Turner-Moistner, Kathy (Steve) Meal, Susan (Rob) Moistner, all of Cambridge City; grandchildren, Danielle (Doug) Hlavacek, Cameron (Marcie) Newhouse, Chantelle Thompson, Nicolette Thompson, Austin (Cassy) Lanich, Katie (AJ) Wetzel, Kristen (Tyler) Brown, Keri Meal, Noah Allen, Payton and Avery McGriff, Marshall Pate-Moistner, Reilynn Ferguson, Kaanan and Karter Moistner. He had a close relationship to nephew, Johnny Roscoe Turner, who has been his right-hand man over the past several years, and many other nieces and nephews
Other than his parents, Roscoe was preceded in death by his sister, Kathy Rosemeyer; brothers, John and Dick Turner.
Visitation will Thursday Sept 26th at 11am, funeral services will follow at 1 pm at Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home, Dublin. His longtime friend, Larry McDaniel will officiate. Burial with military honors provided by contingents of the United States Army Honor Guard and Lawrence H. Bertsch American Legion Post 169 will follow at Bentonville Cemetery in Bentonville.
