Obituary

Cambridge City- Robert Ray "Bobby" Wood, 61 of rural Cambridge City, passed away with his family by his side on Sunday morning March 6, 2011. Robert was born in Richmond, Indiana on December 1, 1949 and graduated from Richmond High School with the class of 1968. A lifelong Wayne county resident, Bobby has made his home in rural Cambridge City since 1979. Bobby was a Master Carpenter and had been a member of the carpenters union for over 35 years. He retired from Oberle Construction in December of 2005 where he worked as a superintendent on many projects. Bobby was especially proud of the work he and his crew did on the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame in New Castle. Bobby was an avid runner and relaxed by being on the water, boating, fishing and skiing. He enjoyed the many fun times with his family at his cabin "Promised Land" on Dale Hollow Lake. He was a member of the Fountain City Wesleyan Church. Survivors include 3 children- Heather (Dale) Blunk of Hagerstown, Ryan (Lane) Wood of Indianapolis and Karamie Wood of Richmond; 4 grandchildren- Ella Nicholson, Dylan and Avery Blunk and Hayden Wood; mother- Wanda ((Byrket) Wood of Richmond; 4 siblings- Kathy (Mark) Williams of Richmond, Nick (Barbara) Wood and Kelly Wood both of Williamsburg and Cris (A J) Jurgens of Richmond; several nieces and nephews. Bobby was preceded in death by his father Ray Wood on March 17, 2006. Visitation will be from 3 p.m. until the "Celebration of Life Service" at 7 p.m. on Thursday March 10, 2011 at the Fountain City Wesleyan Church, 5600 U.S. Hwy. 27 North / Richmond, IN 47374. Pastor Dave Anderson of the church and Chaplain Fuzzy Lake will officiate. Interment will be at 11 a.m. on Friday March 11 at the Jacksonburg Cemetery in Jacksonburg. Memorial Contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society- Relay for Life, Wayne County Unit, 4567 Progress Drive / Columbus, IN 47202
