Cambridge City- Robert H. Roberson Sr., 80, passed away on December 3, 2010 at his home in Cambridge City with his family gathered around him. A son of the late Harley and Edith N. (Broglin) Roberson, Robert was born in Kingston, Tennessee on February 10, 1930. He served his country in the United States Army from May 9, 1949 - December 1, 1952. A veteran of the Korean Conflict, Robert served in Japan for 34 months as a Staff Sergeant before being honorably discharged. He has lived most of his life in the Cambridgec City community and enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Robert has worked at Friends Fellowship in Richmond for the past 14 years in the maintenance and security departments. He had worked for MEG in Cambridge City for 21 years and at NATCO, Wayne Works and Chrysler. In his spare time he liked to repair and sell riding mowers. Survivors include 2 sons- Doug (Margie) Coffman and Robert H. Roberson Jr. both of Cambridge City; 3 daughters- Carol (Russell) Plank of Cambridge City, Rita Nichalson and Debbie Roberson both of Indianapolis; 11 grandchildren- Jan (Rick) Wilson, Robert H. Roberson III both of Cambridge City, Kimberly (Chris) Wilson of Dublin, Darcee Coffman of Greenfield, Megan Hill of Chicago, Travis Longnecker and Caty Coffman both of Cambridge City, Sarah, Joe, Casey and Lyndsy all of Indianpolis; 8 great grandchildren- Daniel, Chandler and Brandon Wilson, Kyndall Roberson, Rachel, Gabin, Alean and Jackson. Robert was preceded in death by his loving wife, the former Bessie Jane Shiplett, on May 6, 2008. They were married in New Castle, Indiana on April 12, 1958; 2 sisters- Betty Ruth and Mary Sue Roberson Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday December 7, 2010 at the Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home, Dublin. Chaplain David Garman will officiate. Burial with military honors provided by the Lawrence H. Bertsch American Legion Post 169 will follow at the Zion's Lutheran Cemetery in Pershing. Visitation will be from 4 - 8 p.m. on Monday December 6 at the funeral home.
