Obituary

CAMBRIDGE CITY- Robert J. Risch, 86, of Cambridge City passed away Wednesday morning, September 16, 2015 at Reid Hospital in Richmond, Indiana. A son of the late Harry and Alma Marie (Fink) Risch, Robert was born in Fayette County, Indiana on March 2, 1929. He was a graduate of Bentonville High School with the class of 1948. Robert married the former Olive Rhea McElfresh on January 1, 1949 at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Cambridge City. A farmer, Robert and his wife worked their farm and raised their family together in northern Fayette County before moving to the Cambridge City community in 1978. Robert enjoyed working the soil, he was an avid gardener and in his leisure enjoyed watching Cincinnati Reds baseball and the Connersville Spartans. He was a member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Council 861 of Connersville, and the Farm Bureau. Survivors include his wife, Olive Rhea; children, Amelia (Bill) Golden of Cambridge City, Stephanie (Jack) Riggs of Milton, Brad Risch of Cambridge City, Lyla (David) Turner of Danville, Indiana, Dorinda (Melvin) Nick of Connersville; 9 grandchildren, Angela Shank, Scott Snyder, Britney, Collin & Kendall Riggs, Michelle & Melanie Turner, Matt (Kati) Huffman, Jon (Tiffany) Lemen; 6 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; sisters, Ruth Thompson, Viola (Kenny) Sherwood; brothers, Melvon (Juanita) Risch, Paul Risch; several nieces and nephews. Robert was preceded in death by his sister, Dorothy Werner. A prayer service will be at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday September 20, 2015 followed by visitation from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home, Dublin. Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, September 21, 2015 at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Catholic Church, Cambridge City. Fr. Joseph Rautenberg will officiate. Burial will follow at Orange North Cemetery in Fayette County.
