Robert "Bob" Irvin Fast age 83, of Hagerstown, Indiana, passed away July 5, 2025, at Reid Hospital in Richmond, Indiana. Bob was the son of Irvin A. Fast and Dorothy M. (Martin) Fast. He was born in Richmond, Virginia, on December 8, 1941.

He married the love of his life, Dixie J. Fogt, July 27, 1963, in Celina, Ohio. He was the proud father of their two (2) daughters, Gretchen and Marta.

Bob graduated from Celina High School in 1960. He served an apprenticeship as a tool and die maker and worked in that trade for 9 years. He earned an A.S. degree from Indiana University, a B.S. degree from Purdue University, and an M.A. degree from Ball State University. He worked as a tool and die maker, tool room foreman, general foreman, engineer, and engineering group leader. He had been employed at Arco Tool and Die, Pax Machine Works, CTS of Berne, Inc., Coldwater Machine and Tool, Chrysler Corp., and Visteon Systems, LLC and its predecessor Ford. He retired from Visteon Systems, LLC in 2003.

Bob was a member of the Hagerstown First United Methodist Church in Hagerstown, Indiana. He had formerly been a charter member of UAW local 1331 (Van Wert, Ohio), a member of the Jefferson Township trustee's board (Hagerstown, Indiana), and had been a member of the Grand Lake Chapter, Order of DeMolay (Celina, Ohio) as a young man.

Survivors include his wife Dixie Fast, and daughter Gretchen Hanes (partner Steve Thompson), of Noblesville.

He was preceded in death by his father, mother, and daughter Marta.
