NEW LISBON - Robert L. Herr, 84, of New Lisbon passed away Thursday, May 1, 2014 at Stonebrook Rehabilitation Center in New Castle. A son of the late Warren and Martha (Fields) Herr, Robert was born in New Lisbon on April 5, 1930. A lifetime resident of New Lisbon, he graduated from High School there with the class of 1948. Robert served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict as a Boilerman Petty Officer 3rd Class on the USS Monrovia. He received his honorable discharge in 1954. On March 23, 1954 Robert married the former Mary "Pat" Bunch in Anderson, Indiana. Robert was a farmer and worked as a Tool & Die Maker at Perfect Circle-DANA in Hagerstown, Avco in Richmond, and retired from Chrysler in New Castle. Robert was a member of the New Lisbon Lions Club, Hagerstown Masonic Lodge, Leroy Tout American Legion Post 338 in Dublin, and New Lisbon Christian Church.

Survivors include his spouse; sons, John Herr of Straughn, Paul and Dan Herr both of Cambridge City; daughter Emily J. Herr; five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; sister, Carolyn Clifton of New Castle.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Ruth Coon.

Family and friends may gather from 2:00 - 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 4, 2014 at Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home, Dublin. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, May 5, 2014 at the funeral home. Pastor Mark Lomison will officiate. Burial will follow at Glen Cove Cemetery in Knightstown with military honors provided by the United States Navy Honor Guard and the Knightstown American Legion Post 152.
