Cambridge City- Robert Anthony "Tony" DeRegnaucourt, 58, passed away on Monday afternoon October 17, 2011 in Switzerland County, Indiana. Formerly of Cambridge City, Indiana Tony has made his home in Arcanum, Ohio for several years. Robert was born in New Castle, Indiana on May 11, 1953. He was raised in the Cambridge City community and graduated from Lincoln High as Salutetorian of the class of 1971. Tony was a veteran of the United States Air Force and attended the Air Force Academy. He earned a Bachelors Degree in Archeology from the University of South Florida in Tampa. Tony worked as an archeologist and authored numerous books on archeology of the Ohio Valley area pertaining to the post Revolutionary War era and Indian Lore. Tony was a close friend and collegue of Dr. David Cox, and was well known for his archeological digs at Fort Greenville and Fort Recovery Ohio. He was a member of the American Society of Archeology. Survivors include 1 daughter, Amber DeRegnaucourt of Greenville, Ohio; 2 grandchildren, Bryce A. DeRegnaucourt and Layla A. Carrington; father, Robert A. DeRegnaucourt of Lewisburg, Ohio; 4 brothers, Mark DeRegnaucourt of Cambridge City, Randy Leapley of Tampa, Florida, Mike and John DeRegnaucourt of Springboro, Ohio; 2 sisters, Connie Fairclough of Riverview, Florida and Joanna Jacobs of Carmel; nieces and nephews. Tony was preceded in death by his mother, Billye Joy (Fleetwood) Leapley in 1994; step father Harold Otho Leapley in 1996 and step mother, Jean (Solgot) DeRegnaucourt in 2009. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Friday October 21, 2011 at the Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home, 1993 Cumberland St, / Dublin, IN 47335. Burial will follow at the Riverside Cemetery in Cambridge City. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday October 20 at the funeral home.
