IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Richard
Wysong
November 19, 1952 – May 4, 2017
Cambridge City - Richard Allen Wysong, 64, left us unexpectedly on May 4th 2017. He was born in Connersville, Indiana on November 19, 1952. He grew up in Richmond where he attended high school. Richard served in the Army during the Vietnam War. After his military service he worked primarily as a truck driver for Wabash Valley Transportation for twenty + years. Post retirement he worked as a farm hand at D & M Dairy Farms. The facts of Richard's life seem ordinary but he leaves behind a legacy of unconditional love. First and foremost, he was a man of God. He was a member of Dublin Gospel Mission. Richard served the Lord by serving others. He never had much to give but gave all he had in time, friendly conversation and the sweat of a hard day's work. He saw and seized every opportunity to help another; he did so freely and without expectation. Richard believed that every small act done for someone else was a service to God. He would never shy away from hard work, or turn his back on someone in need. Whether you were a friend or a stranger he would be there, and if you were the latter you would not stay so to him for very long. Richard was also a husband to the love of his life Melissa. They shared a love and friendship that was true. Through twenty five years of good and bad it proved to be lasting, and only grew stronger as the years passed. He was also an exceptional father and grandfather. He gave to his family all that really matters, his time. No matter how tired he was, or how stressful the day, he always had time to throw a baseball, take you fishing or help you with your math homework. For his family he was the rock on which we rested. He was our provider and friend. He was the teacher of knuckle balls, the changer of tires, and a well of endless wisdom. For others he was a helping hand, a friendly smile, or a perfectly timed, often corny joke. In his spare time Richard was a professional story teller. An amateur angler, a master of back yard engineering, a semi expert gardener and a card shark. But most of all he was a giver. He gave all he had to those around him. He was a shining light in our world, and he will be sorely missed.
Left to carry on his legacy is his loving wife Melissa. Children Marissa (Joe); Ryan (Kristina); Karissa (Chad); David; Denise. Grandchildren Emily, Greydee, Brady, Maycee, Nate and Greyson. Siblings Jim, Joyce, John Paul, Sue and so many more family and friends. He was proceeded by his mother and father Oscar and Harriet. Brother Walter, Harold and brother in law Bob.
