CAMBRIDGE CITY - Richard Lee Ross Sr., 80, passed away early Tuesday morning October 23, 2018 at his home in Cambridge City. A son of the late Jack and Gladys (Moore) Ross, Richard was born in Connersville, Indiana on September 9, 1938. Richard was a graduate of Connersville High School and proudly enlisted in the United States Navy following graduation. He served his country from June 4, 1956 until receiving his honorable discharge on September 4, 1959. Richard retired from the Ford/Visteon plant in Connersville where he worked as an engineer. In his leisure, Richard enjoyed traveling in his RV with his wife, Linda. He was a member of the Milton Christian Church.

Survivors include his wife of 29 years, the former Linda Matthews. They were married in Gatlinburg, Tennessee on March 25, 1989. 5 children, Lee Ross of Cambridge City, Melanie (Romy) Killen of Westfield, Randal (Mary) Ross of Strunk, KY, Scott (Lisa) Ross of Milton and Melinda "Gig" Fields of Cambridge City; Linda's son Curtis J. Boyd and his partner Tony Benner of Indianapolis; 13 grandkids; 4 great grandchildren.

Richard was preceded in death by a toddler son, Rusty Ross; 2 grandchildren, Audra Ross and Nicholas Fields; 1 brother, Jack Ross.

Public Graveside Service with military honors conducted by contingents of the United States Navy and Lawrence H. Bertsch American Legion Post 169 will be held at Valley Grove Cemetery, south of Milton, at 2 p.m. Friday October 26, 2018. Chaplain Shawn Crisman will officiate.
