Obituary

GLENWOOD - Richard Macke, 82, of Glenwood passed away Monday, November 19, 2012 at Golden Rule Nursing Center in Richmond. He was born in Connersville on October 14, 1930 to Phillip and Mary (Chomel) Macke. Richard attended St. Andrew School in Richmond and Webster High School before being drafted to the United States Marine Corps in 1951. He served as an electrician and received a Purple Heart Medal for his service to his country. Richard was a member of the American Legion and enjoyed watching sports with his family. He married Sharon Mathews on June 12, 1954 at St. Andrew Catholic Church, Richmond. Survivors include his wife; three children, Jon (Beth) Macke, Jo (Robert) Temple, Cecilia Macke; five grandchildren, Brad and Jay Macke, Casey Oglesby, Jill and Trey Richardson; two great-grandchildren, Miles Oglesby and Brynn Pennington. He was preceded in death by his parents; a step-father, Harold Macke; and a sister, Mary Catherine Macke. Visitation will be at St. Mary Catholic Church, Rushville on Wednesday, November 21, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. Father Jeremy Gries will preside. Burial with Military Honors will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 24, 2012 at Glenwood Union Cemetery, Glenwood. Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home, Dublin has been entrusted with the arrangements.
