Cambridge City- Ray O. Hall, 75, of rural Cambridge City, passed away Monday evening June 1, 2009 at the Reid Hospital in Richmond. A son of the late William and Helen Runion Hall, Ray was born south of Lewisville, Indiana in Henry County on December 18, 1933. He graduated from the New Lisbon High School with the class of 1953. A lifelong farmer, he has lived most of his life in Henry and Western Wayne Counties. His memberships include the New Lisbon Christian Church, New Lisbon Fire Department Board, Hagerstown Masonic Lodge #49 F & AM, K of P Lodge #33 of New Castle, and the Dublin Community Club. Ray enjoyed helping others and volunteered for many years at the CCYL baseball concessions and the Dublin Skate. He enjoyed farming, fox, squirrel and coon hunting and fishing with his grandchildren. Ray retired from DANA in Hagerstown in 1993 after 32 years of service. Currently he was "parts gopher" for AT & I Service at Pershing. Survivors include his wife of 55 years, the former Hilda Swoveland. They were married at the New Lisbon Christian Church on September 5, 1953. 3 children- Debbie Cates of Richmond, Don (Gail) Hall of Cambridge City and Doug (Lisa) Hall of New Lisbon; 6 grandchildren- Duretta Callahan, Lee Ann (Tony) Bowman, Daniel (Beth), Kyle (Sarah), Joella and Courtney Hall; 5 great grandchildren- Nicholas and Hunter Callahan, Ali and Cash Bowman and Caleb Hall; 4 brothers- Elmer Hall of Modoc, James Hall of New Castle, Robert Hall of Knightstown and Paul Hall of Richmond; 1 sister- Roberta Disbro of Markle; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Ray was preceded in death by a son inlaw David Cates; 2 sisters- infant Catherine Hall and Esther Bade. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Friday June 5, 2009 at the Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home, Dublin. Pastor Mark Lomison will officiate. Burial will follow at the Brick Cemetery, Hagerstown. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday June 4 at the funeral home where a masonic service will be held at 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that Memorial Donations be made to the New Lisbon Christian Church, P. O. Box 68 / New Lisbon, IN 47366
