CARTHAGE - Phyllis J. Solomon, 75, of Carthage passed away Friday, May 22, 2015 at Ellison House Hospice in Greenfield, Indiana. She was born on February 23, 1940 in New Castle, Indiana to Thaddeus and Irene (Sherwood) Richardson. Phyllis graduated from Mays High School with the class of 1959. She worked for 12 years at the Knightstown Soldiers' and Sailors' Children's Home as a security officer and operated a pet store in Connersville, Indiana for many years. Phyllis was a member of By His Grace Ministry in Charlottesville, Indiana and enjoyed cooking for her family and friends, growing flowers in her garden and playing cards. Survivors include her husband, Paul W. Solomon whom she married on May 22, 1995 in Covington, Kentucky; son, Chris Allen (Susan) Doty of Cambridge City, Indiana; daughter, Edia Irene (Bob) Gray of Connersville; stepson, Mark (Martie) Solomon of San Diego, California; stepdaughters, Shawn (Ken) Lahey of Wilkinson, Indiana, Karen Stevens of Columbia, South Carolina; 9 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; brother, Thaddeus Jr. (Vicki) Richardson; many nieces and nephews. Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Howard L. Richardson; sister, Barbara Richardson; stepson, David Solomon. Family and friends may gather from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 26, 2015 at Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home, 115 W Main Street, Lewisville, Indiana 47352. Funeral services will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 27, 2015 at the funeral home. Ron Mills will officiate. Burial will follow at Raleigh Zion Cemtery, Raleigh, Indiana.
