MILTON - Philip Keith Moistner, 76, passed away Thursday evening March 8, 2018 at the Emergency Room of Henry County Hospital in New Castle, Indiana. Philip was born in Wayne County, Indiana on May 12, 1941. He has lived most of his life in the Western Wayne community. Phil served his country in the United States Army and also in the National Guard with the 138th Division of New Castle. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, camping and gardening. His memberships include, Laurel Masonic Lodge #447, Life Member of the AMVETS, Lawrence H. Bertsch American Legion Post 169 of Cambridge City, V.F. W. and Eagles Lodge in Connersville. Phil liked to decorate for the holidays and go to flea markets. Phil had worked at Philco-Ford in Connersville and retired from DANA Corp. after 30 years of service at the Richmond Foundry where he was a spinner operator.
Survivors include 2 children, Tammy Garst of Tipton and Keith A. (Sherry McHale) of Cambridge City; mother, Dorothy L. (Thom) Moistner of Cambridge City; 3 granddaughters, Hailey Foster, Rachel Cornelius and Amanda Barker; 8 great grandchildren; 3 siblings, Melvin (Carolyn) and John (Janice) Moistner both of Cambridge City and Beverly (Duane) Keiser of Hagerstown; nieces and nephews.
Phil was preceded in death by his father, Delbert W. Moistner; wife, Clo Ann (Updike) Moistner on December 29, 1986; daughter, April A. Riggle on May 12, 2009; 2 grandchildren, Lauren Michelle Riggle on February 9, 1990 and Eric Garst on August 13, 2015.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until the time of services at 7 p.m. on Tuesday March 13th at the Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home, Dublin. Pastors Chris Lovett and Scott Moistner will officiate. Following cremation, burial will be at the South Lawn Cemetery in Dublin.
In lieu of flowers, please consider the need of Phil's family by making a memorial contribution to the funeral home to help defray funeral costs.
