Norma Jean
(Kautz) Query
February 23, 1933 – December 10, 2023
STRAUGHN- Norma Jean (Kautz) Query, 90, passed away Sunday evening December 10, 2023 at her home while surrounded by her love ones. A daughter of the late Herbert and Helen (Ostermeier) Kautz, Norma was born in Henry County, Indiana on February 23, 1933. She was a lifelong resident of Henry County and grew up on a farm North of Straughn. She was a graduate of New Castle High School, class of 1951. She met her future husband, Paul, while hauling water to the farmers who were operating the threshing machine in the fields. They were married at the Salem United Methodist Church, on June 10, 1951. Throughout the years, Norma had worked in retail for several area department stores and at the Kentucky Fried Chicken Restaurant at the New Lisbon Truck Stop. Her main job and what she was most proud of, was being a devoted farm wife, homemaker, and loving mother. Norma enjoyed sewing, gardening and canning her fresh vegetables. She attended the South Memorial Drive Church of God.
Survivors include her husband of 72 years, Paul Eugene Query; 3 children, Beth Ann (Robert) Shafer, Thomas (Jennifer) Query and Todd (Tania) Query; 8 grandchildren, Stacy (Shane) Dick, Katie (Cole) MacIntyre, Lauren (Bob) Waugh, Lindsey (Brent) Grassl, Alex (Evan) Gordon, Brandon (Chelsea) Query, Heather (Steve) Sipes and Morgan Cullingham; 14 great grandchildren, Jalen, Madison, Jared, Allie, Amelia, Georgia, Esther, Mack, Adalia, Alwin, Lis, Aidan, Caitlin and Jack; 4 great-great grandchildren, Elle, Lyndon, Naomi and Levi; 1 brother, William (Kay) Kautz; 2 foster great grandsons; several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 2-5 p.m. Sunday December 17, 2023 and from 9 a.m. until the time of funeral services at 10 a.m. Monday December 18th at Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home, Dublin. Rev. Jim Nichols will officiate. Burial will follow at New Lisbon Cemetery.
