Pershing: Nina Esther Holbert, 87, of Pershing, passed away on Wednesday morning December 1, 2010 at Ambassador Health Care in Centerville. The daughter of the late Wilbur R. and Nora B. (Tryon) McConnell, Nina was born on October 25, 1923 in Connersville, Indiana. Nina graduated from Connersville High School with the class of 1941. Formerly of the Cambridge City community, Nina has made her home in Pershing since 1991. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Cambridge City, United Methodist Womens Club and Mary Martha Circle. Nina loved spending time with her grandchildren, being active in her church and studying the Bible. She had been employed by Danner's Department Store in Cambridge City, Hills Floral Products in Richmond and the Coffee Pot Restaurant in Pennville. Surviving relatives include 2 sons- Ronald and James Holbert both of Pershing; 8 grandchildren; several step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren; 1 sister- Alice Pope of Glenwood; 1 brother- James McConnell of Florida; several nieces and nephews. Nina was preceded in death by her husband Virgil W. Holbert on February 9, 2000; 3 daughters- Patricia Chasteen on February 6, 2008, Nancy J. Schwab on September 17, 2010 and Linda L. Griggs on October 20, 2010; 1 sister- Isabelle Fraley. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Monday December 6, 2010 at the Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home in Dublin. Burial will follow at the Dale Cemetery in Connersville. Visitation will be from 2 - 6 p.m. on Sunday December 5 at the funeral home.
